Shomer Mitzvot Summer Programs in the Arts

Kol Neshama Performing Arts Conservatory
Los Angeles, CA / Tzfat, Israel – Overnight Camp

Founded in 2000 by Artistic Director Robin Saex Garbose, Kol Neshama is a Los Angeles-based training program dedicated to providing professional artistic training and performance opportunities for girls and women in a Torah-observant setting and to developing an emerging artistic voice through the creation of distinctly Jewish film and stage productions. Through Kol Neshama’s sixteen years of summer-camp intensives and school year programs, over 400 girls from as far away as Israel, South Africa, Argentina and Germany have experienced the joy and benefit of creative expression while developing their gifts with a Torah perspective. To date, Kol Neshama has produced over ten original plays, five musical DVDs, two CDs and the ground-breaking, internationally acclaimed “for women only” feature films, A Light for Greytowers, The Heart that Sings and Operation: Candlelight.

Camp Tizmoret Shoshana
Berkshire Mountains – Overnight 2 week intensive

Tizmoret Shoshana is a two-week intensive summer program for the fine and performing arts, named in memory of Rebbetzin Shoshana Poupko Feldman z”l, a true Renaissance woman who was both a Torah scholar and accomplished pianist. Under the guidance of a dynamic professional faculty, Tizmoret Shoshana provides training in the following art forms: Chamber Music: Baroque, Classical, Romantic; Vocal Music: Solo and Ensemble; Drama and Puppetry; Improvisation, mask-making, acting; Dance: Ballet, Modern, and Israeli Dance, Visual Art and Creative Writing. Tizmoret Shoshana accommodates both girls with little or no art experience and those who are at highly advanced levels in their art form. The intent of Tizmoret Shoshana is to provide a setting in which the Torah-observant girl can explore and develop her unique talents. The natural setting of beautiful mountains next to a serene lake serves as an inspiring backdrop for the integration of spiritual expression and artistic development.

Netzach Performance Art Camp for Girls
Tzfat, Israel – Day Camp

A month long exciting camp to nurture soulful creative expression and performance art. Tzfat is one of the 4 holy cities of Israel and “wears the Crown of Mysticism and Art” and this is the legacy we want to nourish in our kids. Full exciting schedule including blocks of time for art, drama, dance, music, powerpoint/photoshop with professional teachers, Adventure Outings, Sleepovers– and a whole bunch of awesome electives taught by local artists, all leading up to a final dramatic production for the stage and a short documentary. One of the things that is so special about this camp is that we are not only giving the girls an enriching, fun summer experience, but an opportunity to develop a different set of skills than they learn in school, the opportunity to shine and get “out of the box creative.” contact avivajodi@gmail.com
